Good to Die Records has signed Seattle’s own Absolute Monarchs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 14th, 2011

Absolute Monarchs sign with new Seattle based label Good to Die Records

Entering the studio in the fall to finish recording their much anticipated debut full length

This is one of those bands that doesn’t fit comfortably in any existing genre or scene in town. They balance loose discordance with well-anchored melodic hooks delivered with genuine emotion and energy. It’s rad to see them silence a noisy, unsuspecting bar crowd of hip-hop fans one night, and crusty punk kids the next. They’re an undeniably awesome new band. – Ben Verellen, owner, Verellen Amps

Seattle’s newest home for the finest in loud music Good to Die Records is thrilled to announce that they have inked a deal with local favorites Absolute Monarchs and will be releasing the band’s debut full length in the first half of 2012.

One of the bands leading the new school of rock in the Northwest, the Monarchs – guitarist Shawn Kock (formerly of Das Llamas), guitarist Miki Sodos, vocalist/bassist, Joel Schneider (My Goodness) and drummer Mike Stubz (Deadkill) – fuse hammering drum beats with growling garage punk vocals and jangly guitars that flirt with straight up power pop for a sound that is impossible to ignore. Add to it the angst and muddy reverb that have become almost requirements in the Seattle music scene, and what you have is one of the most compelling, emotional, and flat out rocking bands to emerge from the Emerald City in the past decade.

Although the Absolute Monarchs have only been together for two years, they’ve gained a loyal following in their hometown, packing legendary venues like Neumos, The Crocodile, Comet Tavern, and Sunset Tavern. The tastemakers of Seattle are starting to take notice too. They were chosen as one of the top 10 local bands in a recent poll of area bloggers, bookers, and publicists conducted by CityArts Magazine. Last year, they were tapped to perform at Seattle Weekly’s REVERB Fest, and this past April they played KEXP’s first ever Seek and Destroy presents show, opening for Portland’s Red Fang. On July 22nd, the band will be returning to the Capitol Hill Block Party, gracing the same stage at the Cha Cha Lounge where they made their debut in 2009.

Absolute Monarchs is:
Joel Schneider – vocals/bass
Miki Sodos – guitars
Shawn Kock – guitars
Mike Stubz – drums
