Writer and local musician Kerry Zettel (See Me River) wrote a nice little piece about Good to Die’s recent signing of the Absolute Monarchs on Komo News dot com’s newly minted entertainment blog, Seattle Pulp.

Here is what he said:

Seattle’s newest indie record label Good to Die Records announced that they’ve inked a deal with local favorites Absolute Monarchs. The Absolute Monarchs are guitarist Shawn Kock (formerly of Das Llamas), guitarist Miki Sodos, vocalist/bassist Joel Schneider (My Goodness) and drummer Mike Stubz (Deadkill). Combining hard-hitting drum beats with growling garage punk vocals and angular, detuned guitars the band was quick to gain the attention of the budding Seattle label

“Nik has always been our number one supporter since our very first show,” says Kock about label owner Nik Christofferson. “As far as web presence and promotion, he has done more for the band in one week then we’ve done in two years.” Kock says the band’s knowledge of computers dropped off somewhere around the introduction of Windows.

Absolute Monarchs have plans to head back into Red Room studio this fall to finish their full-length record with renowned engineer Matt Bayles. (The first half was recorded earlier this year with Chris Common.) Good to Die Records anticipates that the band’s debut full length will be released early 2012 on vinyl and digital download.
